A track set for my m3. 285 square.
But the story of me buying it is interesting. I bought these off of a gentleman selling for his friend on Craigslist. (Red flag 1). I live 3 hours away and it was hailing. (Red flag 2). When I got there it was a balloon party rental store warehouse with a bunch of creepy ass clowns. (Red flag 3, oh shit I'm going to get murdered). I call him and he tells me to come to the side down this ally kind of.(seriously why the fuck am I still heading there) (Yep getting murdered, If someone popped out I was prepared to go wot till I got out). I see a gentlemen in front of an Audi rs4 (THANK GOD IM NOT GETTING MURDERED!!!). We talk and he's the gentlemen I'm meeting. He ask me to come into his shop which was hidden behind this creepy balloon party rental store. I walk up and there's a tesla parked infornt. (Another good sign). We get inside and, well just look for yourself.
More cars but I didn't take good pics. Never expected this. Oh and a 285 square set barely fits in an m3. Needless to say it's a good day.

Nice find.... I always like finding places off the beaten path like that out of nowhere, with it being a CL sale, eBay, or another random encounter.

Yep, and thank you. It's albanian in my case ;).

It's nice not getting murdered/robbed/raped buying off of Craigslist too.

So 285 is as big as you'd go? I've got 275s in back (PSS), but want to get a lightweight, square set of 18x10s at some point. Hard to beat APEX.

285 square is the biggest I can go on stock zcp suspension. I'll probably have to get camber plates too if the alignment pin delete doesn't help. Rears can fit wider, I'm at 295 pss on my dd set. I like the ec7's as I can fit a bbk later and for the price I got them for I can't complain.

Don’t get your hopes up for the front camber without plates. The ground control street camber/caster plate has been glorious on my EDC car with stock springs. No noise at all, and I’m running -2.5 in the front. Haven’t seen the slightest bit of accelerated inside wear on the tires, either, but my car doesn’t get many street miles these days... I’m running the 18x10 ARC-8s btw, previously with 265 AD08s but now going to 275 NT01s. I think they’re about the same amount of fatness as 285 RS3s, if not a bit more. Not very much clearance between the sidewall and the strut in the front, but who cares - there’s no deflection at the top of the tire =)

Impossible to beat Apex for the price! A 285 street tire is as wide as I’d go up front on stock suspension. An instructor friend of mine always ridicules me because he runs 305s square, but his E92 M3 is a B-mod club racer and not a single bit of the suspension is stock. Also, he doesnt have those pesky things called “fender liners.”

Nice wheels. How much were they if you don’t mind me asking?

Oh - on my other post I forgot to say nice wheels, they look like they’re in great shape! One suggestion if you haven’t run RS3s before - keep an eye on the fronts on the outside shoulders, especially if you’re iffy on camber up there. Move them around to even out the treadwear and you’ll get the most out of them. Running them backwards is fine, I think, as long as the track is dry. Yokohama said it was fine with my AD08s that were directional, and they heat cycled out with plenty of tread left (kind of a shame, actually - got 14 days out of them before they went off). My friend wouldnt listen to me about moving his RS3s around and he ended the season with 2 corded fronts and 2 perfectly good rears... Derp.

Do you know what the weight difference is per corner going from the stock rims and tire sizes to APEX 18x10s with 285s all around? I assume there’s a thread that goes into wheel weights for our cars somewhere.

How long have they been selling the PS-7s? They look fantastic...

I have absolutely no idea. It’s easy enough to find the wheel weights, but I’ve never looked into the total combined weight of street wheel + street tire vs Apex wheel + track tire. Do report back if you figure it out!

I haven’t seen any in person yet. They’re 1.75lbs heavier per corner (7lbs per set) than the ARC-8...wonder if that has kept track people from snapping them up? It could just be that they’re still very new.

I prefer the style out of all three, but the weight advantage of the ARC-8 is not insignificant. The other two styles are time- and track-tested, for sure.

ZCP wheels are 26 and 26.8, respectively.

Here’s a thread on the other OEM wheels: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr…
Hard to believe that my 19s are lighter than my 18s - they feel heavier on my car due to the wider rubber I’m running (255/275).

I love my style 220 19s but damn....I have to wonder why I don’t just ditch both sets of stock wheels and use ARC-8s for track AND street. Dropping 20lbs of unsprung weight would make a serious impact on handling and steering feel.

Yup!

Thanks for the advice. My only mod on my suspension is the pin delete for camber, so I don't think I have enough to take full advantage of the tires. I'll make sure to rotate them around, and I so far love the rs3 and ec7 wheels. Car feels so much more responsive on them. Hopefully I'll be doing my first track day soon, so far I've kept it to autox. Every time I think about trading the m3 in, it reels me back in.

Keep it at least until you can do a real two day HPDE with it. I think it’ll give you quite an impression!
